Hey there, I’m Kristen 🌱 — welcome to The Sanity Garden, a space where busy families can ditch the corporate lawn dream, embrace native plants, and create backyards that actually work for people, wildlife, and the planet.
If you’re tired of manicured grass dictating your life, spending hours mowing instead of making memories, or feeling powerless against environmental degradation — you’re in the right place. Here, I show families how to reclaim their yards, reduce stress, save money, and grow connections that matter.
My Story
A few years ago, our family yard looked… well, like every other suburban lawn: a perfection-obsessed patch of grass that demanded constant attention. It was expensive, stressful, and frankly kind of boring.
I didn’t convert the whole yard overnight — that would be exhausting and unrealistic. Instead, I’ve been incrementally planting native species whenever time and budget allow. A little patch here, a small garden bed there, one wildflower at a time.
The magic? Our community can follow along. Whether you’re a neighbor, friend, or fellow gardening rebel online, you can see our DIY experiments, learn from what works (and what doesn’t), and try it yourself — no big budget or all-or-nothing mindset required.
The Sanity Garden is my love letter to families who want to fight back against boring yards, restrictive codes, and environmental destruction, one small, intentional planting at a time — while saving time, money, and their sanity.
